Dragon Necropolis
This a large zone at the end of the world in Velious.
I'm serious, getting here is a challenge and requires a level 57 druid or wizard. This zone is, however, well worth going to. There are three parts to DN--The Surface, the Rat Caves, and The Dragons. The surface of DN is inhabited by level 48 to 52 phase spiders. These are fast running, hard hitting beasts that proc a Shadow Step type spell on people.
One spider in 40 (and yes, I counted) drops a Phase Spider Carapace, the Best Monk Breastplate Ever. About 1 spider in 7 drops a Phase Spider Blood, a 1 charge Improved Invisiblity potion, but otherwise spiders are lootless. Also on the surface are traps that trigger level 54 to 56 Dragon Constructs to spawn.
These are melee type dragons, who drop some plats and a number of nifty items. A single group of level 50s can make an amazing amount of experience killing spiders and DCs, although they won't get rich. There are enough spiders to support three single groups on the surface, one on the entrace side and two on the other side.
The Rat Caves contain level 48 to 60 Rat Men, and tons of traps. There are two tribes of Rat Men, Peabala and Chetari. The Rat Men drop the higher level Velium Weapons as commons, and the occasional Peabala Armor piece. There are also several Godlike weapons that drop rarely, such as the Velium Lance and the Velium Brawl Stick. One to three level 50 groups can do well in the Rat Caves, depending on how far in they go. There are two dragons in DN, Zlandicar and the Shade of Jaled Dar. Both of these are level 60+ huge-raid type dragons that can be quested or killed. The Shade lives in the central tower.
He is not ordinarily aggressive, but hates deception, and will death touch anyone in werewolf or skeletal form that goes near him. Zlandicar lives at the opposite end of the zone from the entrance, and will aggro anyone with bad dragon faction. This zone is filled with traps. There are beetle traps that spawn 1 to 15 level 50 beetles, good for AE killing. There are strangler traps that root you, and spike traps that poke you. Mage and wizard construct traps summon creatures that nuke you. Some of the traps are fixed, and some of them are random, making travel through DN interesting.
It is a long trip through IceClad, East Wastes, Kael Drakkel, Wakening Lands, Skyshrine, Cobalt Scar, Sirens Grotto, West Wastes and then Dragon Necropolis. For the Giant Lovers, the toughest parts will be Skyshrine and Cobalt Scar (both are on CoV faction). This part for me was easy. To get from Skyshrine to Cobalt Scar you have to either kill a named Drake (slips my mind at the moment) or do the quest. It's easier to kill him and get the Skyshrine Key, which is need to click on a fountain to get to Cobalt Scar. Once in Cobalt Scar, get your tooth! However Giant Lovers, I strongly suggest you be invisible. For the Dragon Circle is teeming with Drakes on CoV Faction. Now I didn't have invis potions with me, so getting into Sirens Grotto was difficult. The entrance is at the NorthWest portion of the zone, underwater.
The underwater tunnel is guarded by Sirens who are enchanters. Many times I found myself charmed and back near the Skyshrine Entrance in Cobalt Scar. Once past the sirens and into Sirens Grotto, your next problem is getting across the zone. It would either take a solid group of 50s to fight your way across, or you could be succored (?) across the zone by a high level wizard or druid. I high level Druid transported me across the zone. Then you get the joy of running your but off quickly through Western Wastes trying to avoid running into anything. Running into a mob here solo, you would quickly find yourself back at your bind spot. But once into DN, you will have fun..fun..fun. I found the rat area to be a bit scary, once screw up and you find the the high level necro rat you were fighting gated to his city and is bringing back forces en masse.
Ziglark Whisperwing is the name of the Drake you must kill to get the key that allows you to zone into Cobalt Scar.
